THE NEW OFFICE

Lately, I’ve had a number of requests for home office organization with an interesting twist. The client wants me to help them reorganize the cluttered office (which usually resembles a storage room or dumping area at this point), but they’re actually conducting most of their business from their laptop in either the kitchen, living room, dining, or family room.
The proliferation of laptops and wireless internet connections are fast making the stationery home office a thing of the past. When the weather is warm and sunny in Seattle you can bet I’ll be working on my laptop outside on my deck. Warm and sunny are NOT adjectives taken lightly here in the Pacific Northwest! Sometimes, I like to work downstairs in front of my HD video fireplace (I don’t have a real one).
Obviously, if you work from home, you do need a place for all the stuff of your business – and it does need to be organized. But don’t feel guilty if you’re more comfortable working with your feet up on the coffee table! The new office is totally portable – and your productivity will improve if you’re working from a place you enjoy.
