STRESS ADDS POUNDS

High levels of cortisol (a stress hormone) has been linked to increased emotional eating and snacking on junk foods. Your adrenal glands secrete this hormone to help you handle threatening situations (fight or flight syndrome) – but too much stress can be really bad news for your health.
The news about cortisol has lead many pharmaceutical companies to come out with a new line of drugs specifically geared to help you reduce cortisol levels and subsequently lose weight. But in my opinion, save the cash on the pills and get yourself a nice massage, relax with a manicure or pedicure, take a yoga class or whatever helps you turn the stress meter down. Excess levels of cortisol can result in a serious medical condition as well as lead to weight gain.
