Stop Asking These Two Questions!

Are we slaves to the urgent?  How often are we stopping to think about what is REALLY important in our lives?

I think we’re far too concerned about all things urgent:  appointments, schedules, projects, tasks, returning voice mails, emails, faxes and text messages.  We let our lives be controlled by these things and forget about the most important thing of all – delivering what we were sent here to deliver.

We waste far too much time asking ourselves these 2 questions:

“How much will it cost?”  and

“How much time will it take?”

If you’re letting your life be controlled by money, schedules and time – then you may have forgotten that you have shown up on this planet for a unique and special reason – unlike anyone else’s.  Your talents and gifts are yours and yours alone and the dream and vision you have inside you isn’t contingent on anything as superficial as money or time.

It’s never too late to start moving toward the dream in your heart.  You may think you’ve missed your opportunity – that you didn’t “carpe diem” (seize the day) your way through life.  But as Yogi Berra sagely observed, “It ain’t over till it’s over.”  You can change course.  Don’t worry that it will take too long or be too expensive.  Don’t make short term decisions that will leave you with long term regrets.

At the end of your life, no one’s ever going to congratulate you for promptly answering your email.
