Have you heard about the slow food movement? Slow food is promoting the simple art of slowing down to enjoy food and the company you’re dining with. It’s concerned with meals consisting of real food that is healthy for you. Slow food means moving away from industrialized food products and toward native, diverse ingredients grown and prepared in a clean and healthy way.
So many of us (myself included!) tend to rely on fast food from time to time – filled with preservatives, additives, fat, salt and high-fructose corn syrup. We scarf it down while on the run, or at our desks and in our cars.
Try the slow food movement by planning one slow food meal for you and your family this week. If cooking from scratch isn’t your thing, a slow food picnic or simple meal (think artisanal cheeses and meats, locally baked breads, and local produce).
