Smelling or eating peppermint increases activity in the brain which is responsible for alertness. Adults who ate some form of peppermint regularly consumed about 2,800 fewer calories per week. So instead of scarfing down a high calorie sugar or fat snack, reach for a piece of peppermint candy – and you won’t experience that slump that provokes the snack attack.
