Emove.com

This month I’m doing something I’ve always shied away from in the past – hiring movers online. The concept of affordable, safe, fast online moving help appeals to be sure, but I’m very skeptical when it comes to hiring an unknown – especially when it’s for my clients.
emove.com is a convenient new service that gives the do-it-yourselfer control and affordability without the actual work. You hire the truck and then arrange for “moving helpers” to pack, load and unload or whatever combination you need. All Moving helpers (most of whom are small, independent moving companies) receive a 1 to 5 star rating and written review from clients who have used their services. You can compare the prices and ratings and read client comments about them before you make your selection.
The good news is that the rates are very reasonable, you can get a free estimate online, and there are no hidden charges or additional fees – what you are quoted is what you pay. The online form is very user friendly and walks you through the process, making suggestions on how many movers you would need based on the size of your home, the size truck to rent and so on.
Licensing, bonding, and insurance information is available to you online so you can make an informed decision on which movers best suit your needs and what to do if you need to file a claim for accidents or damage. Unlike many Internet moving lists, participants cannot buy their way to a higher position on emove.com and the rankings are based purely on reliability and quality of service.
You only pay when the job is completed and only pay the agreed upon amount (you provide them with a payment ticket you receive online) – although you have the option to negotiate more hours if needed in most cases.
I’m going to try it on a couple of small moves and I’ll let you know whether my dreams of an inexpensive, safe, easy move come true with emove.com.
